Santa Barbara photographer:

Meet Monica Montigny

Embracing the Beauty of Santa Barbara…

I am Monica Montigny, the proud owner and

principal photographer of Santa Barbara Photo Style.

For the past 24 years, I have been privileged to live in this magnificent part of the world, and the past 12 years working as a photographer continually celebrating and capturing its timeless charm through outdoor photo shoots all over beautiful Santa Barbara, and our portrait studio, located in a private studio in the foothills of Santa Barbara, California.

A Childhood Dream, A Journey to California.

Originally from Northern Utah, I always dreamed of the California lifestyle and its majestic landscapes.

My story as a photographer began when I was 19, spending a transformative summer in Aspen, Co, working as a nanny for a National Geographic editor.

The Unveiling of a Lifelong Passion.

Every day, I would accompany the baby under my care to “the cabin”.

Here, the editor and other iconic National Geographic photographers would gather their breathtaking work displayed on slide tables, awaiting selection for the renowned magazine.

As I engaged with these photographers from all over the world in one little cabin, I would realize years later, that inadvertently that was part of my (LUCKY) training.

From Successful Hair Colorist to Photographer.

Years later, having built a successful career as a hair colorist, I decided to get formal training as a photographer.

I enrolled at Sbcc in Santa Barbara, Ca for their Photography Program, and learned every thing I could possibly get my hands on.

A Lifelong Journey in Photography:

Since 2013, I have been actively living my dream as a photographer.

I have stayed engaged and inspired by continually enhancing my skills through classes and workshops, always eager to learn innovative techniques and discover fresh perspectives.

In my view, I have the best job in the entire world!

At Santa Barbara Photo Style, I invite you to trust me to capture you in your true form, capture your beautiful and rebellious spirit, and have a lot of fun in the process.

Cheers,

Monica Montigny
